Huron County Library Public Internet Access Policy
Public access to the Internet at the Huron County Library is provided to ensure equitable access to information and on-line resources.
Huron County Library considers Internet information resources extensions of our material collections for library users.
The Internet provides access to many resources for different age levels and reflects many points of view. Some information found on the Internet may not be accurate, complete, age appropriate, or current; users must assess the validity of information.
The restriction of a child’s use of a Library computer, including Internet or public wireless network access, is the responsibility of parents and guardians. Library staff is not responsible for monitoring or controlling children’s use of the Internet.
Internet workstations and the public wireless network are located in public areas and privacy cannot be guaranteed. Users are asked to respect the privacy of others when using Library computers.
In using the Internet or the public wireless network, users are subject to federal, provincial and municipal legislation related to Internet use, including provisions of the Criminal Code. Library computers and access may NOT be used to:
The Huron County Library assumes no responsibility for wireless Internet content or damages, directly or indirectly, arising from its Web site or from its connections to other Internet services.
Anyone not adhering to the Huron County Library’s Acceptable Use Agreement or who willfully abuses or damages any computer or software will have their Library privileges suspended and will be legally and financially responsible for damages.
